Kayaking into Sunset

Nature Walks

Discover the Te Hoiere/ Pelorus paradise for yourself.  Stroll around the shoreline at low tide or walk the hills to neighbouring bays through forests of native bush. We also can arrange for a walk over the neighbouring farm hills for breath taking views of the Outer Sounds, Maud Island wildlife sanctuary and the distant open sea.

Relaxing/Swimming

Chill on the deck, read a book whilst sipping your drink or jump off the wharf and enjoy a swim in our clear blue water.

Check out the games and books that we have inside if looking for something to do.

Animal Watching

We often have seals and dolphins in Wilson Bay, and more rarely orca. They are not in every day but when the dolphins come visiting they often come in large numbers.  See and hear the abundant birdlife in the bush – tuis, bellbirds, fantails and kereru. Watch the restless seabirds on their fishing expeditions – gannets, shags, penguins, terns and gulls.

Kayaking

We have kayaks, rowing boats and dinghies available for guest use.

Or you can bring your own boats and jet skis for fun. You may even run into some dolphins.

Fishing

Te Rawa is close to all the good fishing spots. Blue cod abound, with snapper, kahawai, tarakihi and kingfish. They’re all out there waiting for you.  Catch your dinner from the wharf or dangle a line from a dinghy. Charterboats are available for more serious fishing. Or you can combine a scenic Sounds cruise with a guided tour of a mussel farm and a sumptuous seafood dinner.
